This is what I did the whole way there & back. (Why yes, I am embroidering the tattoos on Heidi Kenny's tattoo dolls kit. And then I'm going to sew them up. And then I'm going to keep them. For myself.)
It's a seven-hour drive to the river from our house, and by hour three of "Are we there yet? How about now? Are we close? I'm bored. Are we there yet?" Josh & I have both sworn that we'll never go back.
But then we get to the cabin & throw down our bags & grandma Sonja hands us a glass of wine & we hop into the hammock & every shred of frustration leaves us & we remember why we came back.
(Dash is a kitty. Don't ask.)
And why we'll keep coming back, every Summer, for as long as we can.
On day two we ventured into town & stopped into Powell's Sweet Shop, where Dash's head promptly exploded.
He got some candy grillz. Also about one hundred other disgusting treats (among them: Toxic Slime soda, cola-flavored fizzy candies & ring pops).
And then we moved onto the more serious business of canoeing...
(Shortly after this, Dash abandoned ship & then Josh & I promptly tipped the canoe right over.)
...and splashing...
...and dipping...
...and skipping...
...and squinting meaningfully...
...and hugging...
...and kissing...
...and panting (seriously, what is that?)
In conclusion:
